Beet Thai

Thai in Park Slope

What We Had

I had the pineapple curry with chicken & lime leaves – The dish had a nice taste; the addition of raisins was interesting and not at all unwelcome.

Pork & chive pot stickers – They had nice seasoning but were low on crispiness.

My DH had the Pad Thai with chicken – The addition of turnip pickles was new and interesting, otherwise the dish was standard but good. The sauce almost went over to gloopy but did not.

Decor

Vibrant beet shade on the walls, with a happy, modern feel.

A word of caution about the chairs: if metal on concrete bothers you, beware. The chairs all have unfinished leg endings and the scrape is horrendous.

Service

Standard.

Overall Impressions

Not a bad little place, minus the chairs.

Rating

3.5 out of 5 for solid food with gut wrenching chair scrapes.

Pub grub in the Upper Upper East Side.

What We Had

20121223-100456.jpg

I had the Angus NY sirloin steak with 2 fried eggs and home fries. Perfectly cooked steak – the eggs were, however, cooked to death with no seasoning. I was happy with dish overall, but my DH’s pie was the winner.

My DH had the Shepherds Pie – beef carrots onions peas and Parmesan crusted mashed potato with gravy. This was a stellar pie – good mix of veg to beef, really good taste, wholly satisfying.

Decor

Cute old school pub feel with dark woods, lots of mirrors, and black & white flooring.

Good music – Nirvana, greatest hits from the late 90s/early 00s.

Service

Decent service for a Saturday afternoon from our Irish-accented waitress.

Overall Impressions

A good find. Definitely worth checking out again if in the neighborhood.
